SPAIN PROPERTY INVESTMENT GROWTH

According to the Spanish National Institute of Statistics (INE), it shows a clear increase in property transactions throughout Spain compared to last year. The sale of houses this February is up almost 20% compared to February 2009. Other indicators also seem to point towards a slow but clear and steady recovery of the collapsed property market, previously one of the engines of Spain's economic growth. It is the first time since the beginning of the economic crisis that the housing market shows double digit growth numbers. Most transactions are in second hand homes and around 40% in newly constructed properties. Analysts expect the property market recovery will include the whole of Spain. The Canary Islands show an increase of 78 properties per 100,000 inhabitants changing hands in February.

COSTA ADEJE NEW BEACH

According to the areas tourism chief, Miguel Ángel Santos, the finished beach will be good, “not just for Costa Adeje but for the whole island”, and will combine the Troya I and II beaches with El Bobo. The new beach will be, according to the councillor, about 800 metres long, and 60 metres wide, adding a new dimension to the tourist offer in the zone, and ensuring that despite the need to diversify within tourism, the mainstay of the industry, sun, sea and sand, isn’t being ignored. Currently the three beaches are divided by piers and breakwaters, giving a “chaotic look to the coastal line”; said the councilor for Adeje. He added that it had become obvious that the best way to move ahead was to reorder the breakwaters, and “optimize the beach surface that could be created”.
