Everyone has to start somewhere and where better than this 9 hole 914 metre course near the tranquil fishing village of Las Galletas. Built in the shadow of the Guaza mountain range, it’s close to the new luxury resort of Palm Mar and around 10 minutes from the south airport, or the other way, about 10 minutes from the busy beach resorts of Los Cristianos and Playa de las Americas.
Though smaller in size than the championship courses, it doesn’t lack in facilities or attention to detail. There is a driving range, chipping and putting green and lessons available in several languages including English. If you need food and drink, there is a choice of a terrace restaurant for meals or a smaller snack bar. A golfing shop will look after your equipment needs and there is even a kids playground to keep the budding professionals happy.
Hows this for environmental credentials, the course makes use of solar energy, recycles water to spruce up the greens, and protects the trees and plants that help to give the course such a pleasing look.
The course will take around an hour to complete but don’t think it will be too easy, there are water hazards hiding between the palm and banana trees. Green fees depending on the time of year, high season is October to April. Green fees on the main course for 9 holes are for visitors, €24 in high season or €19.50 low season, and for residents, €19.50 and €15.50. If you want to double up to make it 18 holes then the costs are €32.50 for visitors and €26.00 for residents, both in high season. At low season that is €29.50 or €23.00.
Juniors (8 to 16) are encouraged to play 9 holes for €16 high season or €13, at other times. The golf school can offer lessons at €25 for 25 minutes or just €40 for 50 minutes.
