What a setting, on the coastal cliffs with a coastal path passing by. Just 10 minutes from the south airport and off the main motorway in it’s own golfing resort. Built in 1987 to a design by Pepe Gancedo, it was modified in 2005 by Manuel Pinero and has three courses spread around it’s ample grounds. Wide fairways and daunting water hazards make this a fun course to play and the sea views and natural features like ravines and dark sand traps make it very different from your home course.
Blessed with so much wildlife on their doorstep, it’s good to see that the golf club ensures it recycles and protects it’s natural beauty. That was recognised this week with the award of the Madera Verde Diploma of Honour for the course with the best environmentally friendly golf business in Spain.
Off the course there is everything you would expect from a top class golf facillity and more. They have an academy with a training range, practice green and bunker and you can either hire a teacher or bring your own. You will also find a fully stocked golf shop and hows this for something a bit different, a bowls lawn.
If you are looking for flexible prices then Golf del Sur certainly meets that requirement, they have lots of offers for off peak times of day, group bookings and bono tickets for weeks in advance. Just to give you an idea though of prices, there are two main seasons, winter from October to April inclusive and summer the rest of the year. Winter rates are 84€ for 18 holes and 49€ for 9 holes, summer rates are 45€ for 18 holes and 29€ for 9 holes.
