A real taste of luxury with the 18 hole golf course just part of the great facilities on offer. The setting is a west coast hill side flowing down to the sea and it’s own beach. Across the Atlantic are clear views of the island of La Gomera and just down the coast, you will find the charming fishing village of Playa San Juan, with a busy quayside and a bathing beach currently being upgraded with fine sand.
If you want tennis, a five star restaurant or a wellness and spa centre, you will find them all here as well as a top class hotel and villas and 8 swimming pools. Many celebrity guests such as Bill Clinton and Zinedine Zidane have chosen to stay here because of the private and secluded setting but families are always very welcome.
The golf course is the central feature, designed by Dave Thomas, and opened in 2005, there are 25,000 trees, 22 lakes and waterfalls added especially to add to the stunning views and landscapes. As well as the 72 par, 18 hole main course there are putting and chipping greens, a golf academy to help brush up your game and GPS buggies for hire. A club house, shop, restaurant and bar will add to your enjoyment and with three holes set at par three, you will enjoy a challenging days play.As you play the 6,232 metre course you will move between the high point of 315 metres and the lowest point of 78 metres above the sea.
The course is open from 8am until 8pm and you can tee off until 2pm at 12 minute intervals. Green fees for hotel users are 112 euros with club hire at 60 euros. There are special deals available if you want to combine golf with tennis. It’s hardly surprising that Abama was voted Best Golf Resort in the Rheingolf Awards for 2006.
